The territory of Pyr is a fascinating, though dangerous, place. From the volcano-filled Rethian Mountains along the western coast, to the fierce, deadly heat of the Pyral desert to the north, much of Pyr remains largely unsettled. Luckily, though the intense heat and risk of fire remains present across the region in its entirety, both the southern half of the territory and a thin band along the coast of the Intersea have access to enough resources to support some cities. Even still, these cities tend to be limited in scope, and visitors from other territories are few and far between, thanks to the constant heat and flashfires.
As with every territory in Erki, the proximity Pyr shares with the plane of fire causes resounding impacts upon the land and its ecosystems. Though historic records confirm that the Rethian Mountains supported volcanic activity well before the Cataclysm's destructive effect on the planar veil, within Pyr these volcanoes are notably more aggressive, erupting with impressive frequency, and ferocity. Careful magic helps to protect the Empire at large from these eruptions, but the skies of Pyr can be described as smoky at the best of times. Similarly, though all of Pyr is known for its flashfires, these spontaneous instances of combustion are especially frequent — and especially dangerous — within the dunes of the desert. One can often spot the locations of recent desert flashfires by the circular, glassy structures they leave behind in the sand.
